Here’s a little heartwarming story for your Friday.
A two-year-old girl in Faithorn, Michigan (located in the Upper Peninsula) wandered away from her home along with two family dogs on Wednesday. As you can imagine, the parents were probably incredibly stressed and worried trying to find their daughter.
However, according to the New York Post, she was found asleep in the woods hours later, using the smaller dog like a furry pillow.
Lt. Mark Giannunzio said:
“She laid down and used one of the dogs as a pillow, and the other dog laid right next to her and kept her safe. It’s a really remarkable story.”
Troopers used drones and police dogs to search for the missing toddler, and local police and citizens from Michigan and Wisconsin searched for her on foot.
Troopers from Michigan State Police’s Iron Mountain post were called to a home in Menominee County around 8 PM on Wednesday. At about midnight, a citizen on an ATV discovered the girl asleep on the dog in the woods about three miles away from her home.
Giannunzio added that the girl was looked at by medical staff, and was in good health.
Just further proof that dogs are man’s (or in this case, a little girl’s) best friend.
