Adorable Newborn Bison Halts Traffic Taking A Nap In The Middle Of Road

This is how I imagine moms feel when their kids lie down, refusing to get up.

While most of our stories involving bison and Yellowstone National Park have to do with tourists being dumb or some crazy wildlife, this one is pretty tame.

In the early spring, while trying to drive through part of the park, a woman captured a herd crossing the road.

While the group was leisurely making their way across the pavement, a calf decided he was too tired, and the dry road looked like a perfect place to snooze. He curls up right by his mom and plops to the ground.

While this mom looks at the calf, puzzled, she doesn’t fight it and continues to stand by her offspring. After a few moments, the mother leans down to show her calf affection.

The woman in the caption noted that the baby’s nap caused a traffic jam for hours in the park.

“This newborn baby bison caused quite the traffic jam when it took a nap in the middle of the road, shutting down traffic for hours in Yellowstone National Park, Spring 2023.”

As bison are herd animals, I’m going to guess that the whole group stayed by the mom and calf until the baby was done with its nap, also leading to a road filled with bison.

What a sweet mom for sticking by her calf the whole time.

Like I said, though, I am sure this is how toddler moms feel when their kids lay down in public and refuse to move… have to ride that wave and not make a scene.
