Last night, we finally got to watch the Detroit Lions square off against the Kansas City Chiefs for the first game of the NFL regular season, and needless to say, it was everything we could’ve asked for.
And with Thursday Night Football being a massive snoozefest last year, it was quite the 180-degree turn around.
The Lions squeaked out a 21-20 victory over last year’s Super Bowl champs at Arrowhead Stadium, proving that the Lions are a force to be reckoned with this season, after being one of the worst teams in the NFL only two seasons ago.
And I can imagine that every Chiefs fan is begging for a new wide receiver after Kadarius Toney after basically lost the game by himself.
However, the Lions’ impressive victory, and Toney’s awful play may not have been the biggest storyline of the night…
It might have been Melissa Hutchinson, the mother of Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson.
Every time Hutchinson made a play for the Lions last night, the cameras cut to his parents sitting in the booth, and needless to say, the world couldn’t take their eyes off ol’ Melissa going wild for her son (and also at times looking completely clueless).
I mean, why the hell were they mic’d up?
Melissa has been going viral ever since Aidan got drafted by the Lions in last year’s NFL Draft, and now that the Lions might be a serious playoff contender this year, I have a feeling we’re going to get to see a lot more of her.
And needless to say, X (formerly known as Twitter) had a field day with this one:
