Authorities have made an arrest against PGA golfer Erik Compton.
On Saturday night, around 9:30 PM, it was reported via Local 10 News that Compton and his wife were having a heated argument when things took a turn.
According to the police report filed with the Miami-Dade Police Department, the verbal argument started when discussing “relationship issues.” As the conversation became more heated, Compton’s wife took out her cell phone to begin recording the conversation.
This action led to Compton grabbing his wife’s phone and throwing it into their pool. He then grabbed her by the shoulders and threw her into the wall leaving bruises on her arm.
The report goes on to note that after this act of violence, his wife immediately left, driving to a friend’s house, where she called the police to file a report.
Compton immediately involved his attorney and has not commented on the situation.
The University of Georgia alum was arrested on a strong-armed robbery charge, a second-degree felony, and a misdemeanor battery charge. He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correction Center, where he was processed and released on bond.
