First a record deal, and now this… you love to see it.

According to Music Row, Charles Wesley Godwin has inked a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music. CWG is one of the best songwriters in the business, and he’s gearing up to release his his major-label debut record Family Ties on September 22nd via Big Loud Records.

And quickly for those who may not know, a publishing deal has to do with the writing and copy of the song, whereas a record deal is about ownership of and royalties paid on the recordings made by an artist for a label.

CWG says he’s grateful for the team at Warner Chappell, and looking forward to working with them going forward:

“Happy to announce that I’ve partnered with Warner Chappell Music!

It’s been a true pleasure getting to know Ben Vaughn, Spencer Nohe, and the entire WCM staff. I’m grateful for their support and look forward to working together.”

Ben Vaughn, President and CEO of Warner Chappell Music Nashville, encourages fans who may not know the music of Charles Wesley Godwin yet to go to a live show, adding they’ll instantly become a “lifelong fan.”

He’s certainly right about that:

“Do yourself a favor and go see a Charles Wesley Godwin show, it will make you an instant lifelong fan.

Born and bred in West Virginia, Godwin brings an undeniable energy to the stage when singing the songs that he’s so expertly crafted, and all of us at Warner Chappell couldn’t be happier to represent him at this exciting time in his career.”

From being an independent artist playing tiny gigs around Appalachia, to becoming one of the premiere independent artists in country music and now signing with a major label in Big Loud (home of Morgan Wallen, Hardy, Hailey Whitters, and more) and inking this publishing deal, it seems as though CWG is finally having his moment and getting  the credit he deserves on a pretty damn big scale.

He’s absolutely poised for a breakout with his forthcoming record dropping next month (if he hasn’t broken out already in the mainstream sense, honestly) and it’s been so cool to see his trajectory and the masses discovering his incredible music over the last several years.

Charles is currently opening for his friend Zach Bryan on his Burn, Burn, Burn tour, and will also join Luke Combs on his 2024 Growin’ Up And Gettin’ Old tour that kicks off next April.

He also released his Family Ties sampler EP at the beginning of August, which has me super pumped to hear the full record here soon.

The CWG bandwagon is filling up fast, but there’s plenty of room still. Y’all hop on while you still can…
