Man, nature is truly survival of the fittest.
Pike normally prey on a number of smaller fish, such as darters, minnows, bass, and perch. They’re also known to make topwater attacks on ducks, frogs, snakes and more.
However, at the end of the day, pike are carnivores, and they’ll take just about any kind of meat they possibly can for dinner…
And that includes their own species.
A lot of times, large pike will prey on smaller pike, as they are typically no match.
With that being said, here is a perfect example.
A group of fishermen captured a large pike biting down on a smaller pike all on video.
As you can see, the smaller pike is still alive, considering it is opening its mouth and closing it. But, it’s easy to see that it is on its last leg… or, fin? I digress…
It’s just further proof that these are some top tier freshwater predators.
