I don’t know about you, but Dan Campbell, coach of the Detroit Lions, has been my favorite head coach in the NFL for the past couple of seasons.
Ol’ Dan seems to be a pretty down to earth, normal dude, who isn’t afraid to do what it takes to fire his team up, and he doesn’t hold back.
Seriously, there isn’t a single player on the Lions who I’d say I’m a huge fan of, but when they went from 3-13-1 back in 2021, and turned it around in 2022 by going 9-8, I was STOKED, all because Dan Campbell is the man of the people.
But speaking of how Campbell does whatever it takes to fire his team up, here is yet another perfect example.
In a press conference a few weeks back, he was asked if was feeling any pressure this upcoming NFL season, considering he’s made major strides in only two years and the Lions are now the frontrunners in what could be a pretty competitive, or possibly very bad, division.
And in the most Dan Campbell kind of way, he responded:
“No, I don’t feel weight. I feel wind underneath my freakin’ wings man. That’s what I feel.”
I mean, this is guy electric. He almost reminds me of The Dude from The Big Lebowski… just great quote after great quote.
I was fully expecting a bald eagle to fly overhead, and Scott Stapp from Creed to pop out from behind the curtain and start singing “Higher.”
Keep an eye out on them Detroit Lions this year, they’re gonna make some noise.
