I think we might finally get a studio version of this one…
Riley Green’s unreleased song “Mississippi or Me” has become a fan-favorite over the years, one that he’ll play at live shows every now and then and has also shared little teasers of on Instagram before.
And today, he posted a new acoustic video playing the song, saying in the caption that he’s “wanted to cut it since the day I wrote it,” implying that it’s on the tracklist for his forthcoming sophomore studio album.
Riley revealed a few weeks ago that a new project is coming in October, so it sounds like we won’t have to wait too much longer to hear the real deal, full-length version, and I cannot wait.
I’ve personally loved this song for a long time, and have been waiting and waiting for him to include it on some sort of project.
The subject matter finds Riley wondering if the girl who broke his heart came back because she couldn’t live without him, or because she missed her home in Mississippi and everything else in the Magnolia State.
And if I had to guess, I’d say that if you love “Mississippi or Me” as much as I do, you’re in luck come October…
