Crazy and sad scene coming out of the Fort Worth Stockyards last night.
A large fire broke out in the over century old building that housed the Cantina Cadillac Bar at the historic Stockyards last night. According to the Dallas Morning News, around 8:15pm last night a fire crew noticed flames coming out of the back of the closed bar on W Exchange Street. This prompted a three alarm response which involved 15 fire engines and departments from other districts.
The fire fighters were able to contain the blaze to the one building and thankfully no injuries were reported, although around 15 people were inside when the fire broke out.
It took hours to contain the blaze, and authorities attributed a faulty gas line, poor water supply, traffic control, and crowded parking lots as reasons why the containment took so long.
As you would expect, the area was loaded with people out on a busy Saturday night and some of the pictures and videos captured show just how large and dangerous this situation was.
The building’s roof collapsed and the structure could be compromised, leaving the future of this staple of Stockyards night life and rodeo scene up in the air.
First and foremost, we should be thankful that no one was hurt and the fire fighters were able to contain the flames, but man this is just so sad. Long standing establishments like Cadillacs are becoming more and more rare these days and it’s a near tragedy when one goes out this way.
