Yep, that’s a no for me.
I understand the fact that sharks typically stray away from humans, and full blown attacks are pretty rare. However, the second that shark mistakes you as a fish, or feels threatened in some way, it could be ballgame.
So, with that thought in mind, any close sighting of a shark is enough to get my heart pumping a bit… even if you’re within the safety of your own boat.
I mean c’mon, we’ve all seen Jaws before, where the massive great white shark basically consumes a whole boat by itself, right? That scene traumatized me when I was just a kid.
But speaking of a close encounter with a great white shark, here is a perfect example (not to mention, Shark Week gets underway this week).
In this wild video footage, you can see a good sized great white shark with several scars along its side swim directly towards the dive platform on a boat, and then proceed to take a bite.
The owner of the boat, Andrew F. Jones, wrote to Facebook:
“A HUGE great white shark just bit the dive platform on my boat. That was a once in a lifetime experience and we got him on video (against the advice of the crew who thought we should be leaving)”
Needless to say, it was a cool Kodak moment, and I’m glad nobody was injured in this rare scene.
