This shocking and hilarious video brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “when nature calls.”
When you visit Yellowstone National Park, you’ve always got to keep your head on a swivel for wild animals roaming around, even if you are on the toilet.
You could maybe even say especially when you are sitting on the porcelain throne, because that’s one place where you definitely do not want to get in a fight with a bison. There’s no telling how long those public bathrooms have been there, but I would venture to say that they are not “bison proof.”
If that massive beast wanted to help itself into the restroom, it easily could do so with a dip of the head and a good running start. That’s why the poor man stuck in there is hesitant to leave and has a tough choice to make.
With the towering bison standing only feet away from the door, he’s probably better off staying inside the small building, but then again, that 2000 pound mammoth could bust right through that wood siding.
And I say that it is a small building, yet it could just look like that due to the sheer, overwhelming size of the bison. Just look at that thing. If it was inside that bathroom, it would occupy almost all of the square footage of the inside.
You have to feel for the man too, because he’s probably fearing for his life while others in the parking lot are videoing from a safe (?) distance and laughing at his unfortunate situation.
He could choose to stay in the bathroom and wait out the bison, though I’m sure that shack isn’t air conditioned and probably doesn’t smell all that great either. Or he could try to muster up the courage to make a run for it, but a sudden movement like that might provoke the bison to attack.
Every bit of this pun intended: this guy is in a real shitty situation.
The funniest part of the video is when the guy is comically peeking out of the crack in the door like it’s some kind of silent comedy film from 1920. However, the premise itself would fit right into a 2000’s comedy about a family that takes a trip to Yellowstone National Park and hilarity ensues. I can see the movie poster and trailer for it now:
“This summer, Yellowstone bites back in the can’t miss family movie of the year starring Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston…”
I’m not 100% sure that the bison even knows that the guy is in there. The giant animal looks to be chowing down on the landscaping near the building, not paying much attention to the tourist peering through the crack in the bathroom door.
And the video unfortunately cuts off while the man is still sheltering in place, so we don’t know if he gets out safely or not. For all we know, he could still be curled up inside that very Yellowstone bathroom shack, waiting for the bison to go on its merry way.
Hopefully the guy turned out to be fine and no one was injured in the animal encounter. I’ve got a feeling that even if the guy makes it out with no physical injuries, his conscious and reputation as a “tough guy” will take a hit.
Every man is macho until they have to decide whether or not to make a run for it out of a bathroom that they’ve been held inside of against their will by a Yellowstone bison.
