This…this is the customer service we should all expect from hotels.
I mean, they’re basically our home away from home, right? So shouldn’t they want to do whatever it takes to make it feel like home, even if it’s only temporary?
Well one Holiday Inn in North Carolina went above and beyond for a guest who had what may seem to some people to be a bizarre request, but seems perfectly fine to me.
A post from user cheap_heat2 in the NASCAR subreddit shows just how much work the Charlotte-area hotel put in when the husband left a request on his reservation that the hotel put a framed picture of Dale Earnhardt on their nightstand.
You may be asking: But why? (To which I say, why not?) Well, apparently this guy just wanted to annoy his wife, who’s not really a NASCAR fan.
Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. And apparently it sounded perfectly reasonable to the hotel too, who not only fulfilled the request with a framed picture of the Intimidator on the nightstand, but also took it one step further and organized a full-blown scavenger hunt for the couple.

The hotel, which apparently got quite the kick out of the request, left the couple a note letting them know that they had also hidden four more pictures of Dale Earnhardt around the hotel room, and that if they found them all and brought them to the front desk, the would win the “grand prize.”
“Hello! Thank you so much for staying with us! We found your request quite amusing & decided to take it a step farther! Like this handsome snapshot here, we have hidden 4 more photos around the room. Find them, bring them to the front desk, & collect your GRAND PRIZE.”

Now that’s the kind of vacation entertainment I can get behind.
The couple managed to track down all four of the hidden pictures of the NASCAR legend, which were strategically placed in the shower, in the nightstand drawer, on the safe and behind the lamp, and turned the photos in to collect their winnings.

Oh, and for those wondering? The “grand prize” was free breakfast at two in their restaurant for their three-day stay, along with some drink vouchers.
I bet the wife wasn’t so mad about it as she was enjoying those free drinks.
Not to mention, they had an angel on their nightstand to watch over them during their stay.
Raise hell, praise Dale.
