Gotta say, this just makes sense.
It’s hard to find an artist that has made as much of an impact as Taylor Swift has over her career.
Since the start, she’s been an absolute star and continues playing massive sold out shows around the country to an army of “Swifties” who will do nearly anything to not miss a second of her performances, even wearing adult diapers…
While she’s not country any more, there’s not much argument that her early albums we’re pretty dang country, just listen to songs like “Tim McGraw”, “Our Song”, and “Mean”.
But there’s another of her classics that’s squarely in the country genre and last week at CMA Fest one of the fastest rising female stars in some time did a hell of a cover of it.
“Picture To Burn” was part of Taylor’s self-titled debut album from 2006 and was a fan favorite from the start, peaking at number 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Well, Megan Maroney decided to close out her set at CMA Fest with a cover of this song and man it just works. If there’s anyone who’s got the sass and stage presence to really pull this off, it’s her, who’s been lighting the genre on fire with “Tennessee Orange” and her debut album Lucky.
Safe to say, the crowd absolutely loved it.
It’s not the first time she covered the song though. You can watch her performance from the Carolina Country Music Fest below.
Wouldn’t mind getting a “Megan’s Version” of some Taylor Swift songs, just saying…
