Man, the Josh Abbott Band has done it again.
The Texas country powerhouse has been putting out great, feel good country music for more than a decade, and they’re not showing any signs of slowing down.
A couple of weeks back, the group released the ideal small-town country song “Country Nights” that will have you longing for the days of bonfires with your best friends and drinking cold beers, with the hopes of falling in love as the night rolls on.
And today they’ve dropped yet another stellar single today, titled “My Dad And His Truck.”
The song captures your attention immediately with some beautiful piano, as it transitions to Abbott singing about the trials and tribulations his parents went through in their truck, and how it ultimately taught him life lessons along the way.
And then this awesome chorus comes along:
“They would run til the day was done
Like a cowboy and his horse
All those years grinding the gears
They don’t make ’em like that no more
Strong and steady, always ready
To go when you fired ’em up
Both built American tough
My dad and his truck”
If you’re looking for some great country music to kickstart your Memorial Day weekend, just give “Country Nights” and “My Dad And His Truck” a listen.
