Philip Bowen is a master on the fiddle, and his debut album Old Kanawha is coming soon.

He’s known for adding fiddle (or an additional fiddle) on songs by everybody from Vince Gill to Colter Wall to The Notorious B.I.G., gaining popularity through TikTok and now gearing up to put out a full-blown record.

He is also credited on tracks from Jenna Paulette, Noah Kahan, Josiah & the Bonnevilles, and more, and I’m really excited and intrigued to hear all of the original stuff coming on his new project.

Old Kanawha will be out everywhere on August 18th, and he just announced that the title track, featuring the great Charles Wesley Godwin, will drop next Friday, June 2nd:

“‘Old Kanawha’ is the title track to my debut album. It’s been a lifetime coming and I’m so honored to have my friend Charles Wesley Godwin sing on it.

You all make it possible, and I’m so honored to share these songs. Appalachia Forever.”

And if you play the fiddle yourself, he also shared a tutorial on how to play the signature lick:

In addition, Philip will be playing on the Season 18 Premiere of America’s Got Talent this Tuesday, May 30th at 8pm NBC, so make sure you tune in for that next week.

Check out the acoustic video of “Old Kanawha” while you’re here, too:
