Tyler Childers Lays Down Beautiful Acoustic Rendition Of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” In Houston

Tyler Childers country music

Give me Tyler Childers acoustic straight to the veins.

While Tyler hasn’t been touring as much as he once did, there’s no denying he still brings the heat with every performance.

To be fair, he no longer has to be the same road-dog he once was and since he now gets to view each performance as an “I get to” rather than an “I’ve got to,” the shows he plays seem to be better than ever.

Last month he played in Houston, Texas at the 713 Music Hall and decided to strip it down and bring it back to the good old days.

Sitting down with just him and a guitar, he told a typical Childers story about the demand for bluegrass music in Texas (which got the crowd fired up) before breaking into one of the all-time great country songs, Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.”

We’d heard him cover it before, but it’s always great when you can hear a modern take on an old school classic. There’s no one in country music today that carries the torch of those that created the genre like Tyler and one listen to this proves it’s not just some gimmick to name drop Hank: It’s the real deal.

Enjoy your Wednesday night with a glass of good whiskey and this on repeat.
