ACM Awards 1992: Actor Joe Pesci Joins Travis Tritt For Boot-Stomping “Bible Belt” Performance

Travis Tritt ACM Awards country music

In 1992, the legendary movie My Cousin Vinny, starring Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei, hit the big screen.

And now, over 30 years later, it still holds up as an all-time great. It’s a story as old as time: an Italian-American, New York hot shot lawyer (played by Joe Pesci) goes to rural Alabama to defend his cousin on trial for murder.

And not only is it a great movie, but it features a song from legendary ’90s country star, Travis Tritt.

Tritt wrote “Bible Belt” specifically for the movie, and when he got the chance to perform it on stage at the ACMs, he brought Joe Pesci along for the ride.

Wait a second, you’re telling me Joseph Frank Pesci, the Italian Newark, New Jersey native, can play and sing country music? Hell yes, he can.

In addition to acting, Joe is a huge fan of music and even tried to pursue a career in music.

Pesci released an album in 1998 titled Vincent LaGuardia Gambini Sings Just for You. And while it’s more of a comedy and parody album, there’s no denying his musical talents.

I mean, it’s not like he’s on stage with Tritt clapping on a tambourine, the guy’s singing and playing rhythm guitar.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be spending the rest of my day down the YouTube rabbit hole of the funniest My Cousin Vinny moments.
