Flying Fish Can’t Win, Gets Hunted Down In Water And In Flight

Flying Fish

I always thought flying fish were a myth…

Flying fish are an amazing species that has wing like fins that help them glide through the air when they jump out of the water.

Flying fish are a relatively small species of fish, typically measuring between 7-12 inches in length. They are found in warm waters around the world, including the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. They have a streamlined body shape, with a small head and a forked tail that helps them swim quickly through the water.

One of the main reasons flying fish have evolved the ability to fly through the air is to escape predators. When threatened by a predator, such as a dolphin or tuna, flying fish will leap out of the water and use their wing-like fins to glide through the air for up to 200 feet.

While in flight, flying fish can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, making them one of the fastest species of marine fish. They can also adjust the angle of their fins to change direction in mid-air, allowing them to avoid obstacles and maneuver around potential predators.

This flying fish is seen being chased in the water, it leaps and glides through the air to gain distance. The fish leaps and leaps with the predator hot on its tail.

The wind picks up and the fish starts to get a bit more air time. Now, the birds move in.

This poor fish is getting hunted no matter what direction it goes.

That is just nature though.

Still, a pretty cool species who clearly they need all the help they can get to survive.
