Apocalyptic Cloud Of Dust Causes Massive Accident On I-55 In Central Illinois

i-55 crash

I’ll never forget the first time I saw the horror movie, called The Mist.

For those who aren’t familiar, the movie is basically about a massive fog that consumes this entire town, and there are a bunch of aliens inside the fog that kill anybody and everything that steps outside.

I was about nine-years-old when I first saw this movie, and my third grade self was mortified every time I saw it getting a bit foggy outside (I overcame this fear though, W).

With that being said, I can’t help but think of that movie after watching this wild video.

According to NBC 5 Chicago, interstate-55 in Montgomery County, Illinois had to be shut down in both directions today, after a HUGE stretch of thick dust overtook a part of the interstate.

The massive cloud of dust resulted in a number of car wrecks, and possibly some injuries due to the thickness of the dust, making it near impossible to see. Considering I’m from the southeast, this is just something you never see. Is this a somewhat common occurrence in the Midwest?

Hell if I know, but people would be praying to the Good Lord if they saw this happen in my hometown, thinking that we’ve officially reached the end times.

Prayers up to everybody who was involved in the wrecks, as we hope there were no serious injuries.

Here’s a look at the aftermath:
