American Idol Contestant Colin Stough Gets The Judges On Their Feet With Jaw-Dropping Country Version Of “Dancing On My Own”

Kid’s REAL good.

I haven’t watched any of these TV singing competitions in quite awhile, but a friend keeps sending me videos of one American Idol contestant in particular who just keeps blowing it out of the water.

18-year old Colin Stough is an HVAC tech from Amory, Mississippi. And he’s a damn good singer too.

For his first audition Colin broke out a version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” that left the judges in awe.

Then he proved he was the real deal (and has great taste in music) with a cover of Whiskey Myers’ “Stone.”

And Colin just continues to impress, this week pulling off an incredible stripped-down country version of “Dancing On My Own,” an electropop song from Swedish singer Robyn (remember her from the ’90s?) that’s also been performed by Kings of Leon and a Calum Scott, a contestant from another singing competition, Britain’s Got Talent.

Colin’s version once again highlights the similarities between himself and Whiskey Myers frontman Cody Cannon, throwing a southern rock edge into the pop hit that leaves the judges in awe – and on their feet.

If the show doesn’t try to force him to change his sound and he gets to make music like this once he has a record deal, this kid could be the real deal.
