Billy Strings And Willie Nelson Tease Collaboration Ahead Of Willie’s 90th Birthday Celebration

I don’t know exactly what this means, but I love where it’s headed.

The legend himself, Willie Nelson, and bluegrass phenom Billy Strings seem to be teasing a collaboration coming this Friday.

They collaborated on the Instagram post below, where we see Billy playing Willie’s iconic and trusty guitar Trigger, as Willie smiles on.

The duo banters a little bit and discuss the intricacies of the guitar, and they shared the video teaser along with the caption:

“Pulling the Trigger. Friday.”

We do already know that Billy will be playing this weekend at the two-day concert dubbed: Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90, A Star-Studded Concert Celebrating Willie’s 90th Birthday, which will be huge bash in honor of the red headed stranger at the iconic Hollywood Bowl.

But it seems like there will be something more than an on-stage performance together (which I do hope happens, too) coming from these two this Friday, April 28th.

And really, it could be anything… maybe a duet of some sort with Billy playing Trigger, or another kind of video where Willie recounts old stories with Trigger as they play together, or something else completely.

All I know is… Willie and Billy are the duo we not only need, but deserve, as country music fans.

And I’ll leave you with this awesome performance from them of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” from last years Outlaw Music Festival:

And how ’bout a little “On The Road Again” from Mr. Strings, too:
