74 Year Old Woman Bitten By 250-Pound Black Bear While Walking Dog In Connecticut

Avon, Connecticut may be turning into the black bear capital of the country…

We recently saw a family piling out of a dumpster and a mother helping her cub across the street, and now we’re hearing some bad news involving the city and its black bear population.

A 74 year old woman was walking her dog when she was attacked by a 250lbs black bear. She suffered a bite wound and was admitted to the hospital. Fortunately, reports are that she will be okay.

The bear was tracked down and euthanized by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, as an attack on a human triggers a Category 4 response.

Authorities said human/bear encounters are on the rise, due to a growing population of both humans and bears in the area. Another bear was euthanized earlier in the week for entering multiple homes in search of food.

For as cute and curious as they may look at times, there’s no denying these creatures possess a serious threat to any people in their vicinity.

Please, for the love of all things good, keep your distance and don’t try to pet them…
