You never forget your first time…
Hosting the ACM Awards, that is.
Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks are officially set to host the 58th annual Academy of Country Music Awards this year, which will take place in Texas for the first time since 2015, being livestreamed on Prime Video from the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco.
Yep, two of the genres most iconic, recognizable artists will soon take the stage together to honor the current mainstreams stars of country music, with nominees like Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson, Hardy and plenty more.
You can check out the full list of nominees HERE.
Of course, Mrs. Dolly is easily one of the funniest people on the planet in my opinion, and Garth certainly has his own unique sense of humor, and they’re clearly both incredible entertainers, so I think they should make a helluva duo, honestly.
Leading up to the show, they’ve been doing some great promo, and release a new video today where we find both artists in Dolly’s dressing room, as she gives a Garth a few pointers on hosting for the first time (Dolly hosted the show solo in 2000, and last year with Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett).
Garth tells Dolly how nervous he is for their “big night,” and makes sure Dolly knows what’s going on, to which she ensures him she has “done this before, plenty of times, with plenty of people” and knows exactly what she’s doing.
She also promises him:
“Yeah, and I personally am gonna make this the best night of your life.”
To which he clarifies:
“We’re talking about hosting the ACM Awards show, right?”
Dolly also tells him if he has any issues to look at her, and keep his eyes above her chest…
I mean, Garth out here living every mans dream with a pretty damn cool gig hosting with the queen herself, Dolly Parton. Their chemistry is great and they really do make a great pair:
And while the ACM Awards aren’t usually much to write home about in terms of winners or what the awards actually mean in the long run, there are some pretty well-deserving nominees this year, and I think Dolly and Garth will certainly be a very funny and entertaining duo, if nothing else.
The show is slated for May 11th at 8:00 PM EDT, and will stream exclusively on Prime Video.
