‘American Idol’ Contestant Marybeth Byrd Delivers Powerful Performance Of Lainey Wilson’s “Heart Like A Truck”

It’s always cool to see American Idol contestants covering great country songs on the show.

And last night, contestant Marybeth Byrd delivered a powerful performance of Lainey Wilson’s #1 hit “Heart Like A Truck.”

It was night two of performances from the second half of the Top 26 on AI, which took place at a resort in Ko Olina, Hawaii.

“Heart Like A Truck” recently became Lainey’s third career #1 single on country radio, and was featured on her 2022 fourth studio album Bell Bottom Country. It was produced by Jay Joyce and written by Lainey, Trannie Anderson and Dallas Wilson.

The Armorel, Arkansas native Marybeth has strong vocals and a great stage presence too, so she delivered the song with a lot of passion and definitely did Lainey justice.

Country star and judge Luke Bryan told her after the performance:

“Even from your audition, I love your country-ness. Is that a word? You are a big country star in the making.”
