Man Grabs A Big Ol’ Buck By The Antlers To Pull Him Out Of Traffic

Deer in the streets

Yeah, that’s not your normal traffic encounter.

White-tailed deer are one of the most common species of deer found in North America.

In many areas, they are now known for completely taking over towns as they move into more urban areas.

White-tailed deer are large animals, with adult males, also known as bucks, weighing up to 300 pounds and standing over 3 feet tall at the shoulder.

Extremely adaptable animals, they have learned to live in and around towns and cities. As urbanization continues to expand many have moved into these areas and actually thrive with increased protection and easy access to food.

In urban areas, white-tailed deer have access to a variety of food sources including gardens, lawns and landscaping.  Deer can cause damage to property and vehicles and their overpopulation in some areas can lead to conflicts with humans.

Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is a serious threat to white-tailed deer populations. It is a prion disease that affects the brains of infected animals, causing them to waste away and eventually die. CWD causes deer to change their behavior, many visual signs are notable when they are infected.

This beauty buck was seen wandering around in traffic, clearly confused, and didn’t know where to go.

A man walks out and grabs onto the deer right by its antler, and then pulls on it to lead the deer out of traffic.

A bold move, but it’s working… the deer seemed more than willing to let the man lead it out of the road. Perhaps this is a farm buck who is used to be around people?

The other possibly is that the deer possibly has CWD.

Either way, this is a strange encounter.
