It’s truly amazing to think about the stamina of a wolf.
Seriously, the creatures typically run up to 10 hours a day, and when you watch them chasing down their prey, It’s a relentless pursuit and the wolves show no sign of slowing down.
The speed, the strength, the intelligence… they’re just phenomenal creatures (not for farmers, though).
Here we have yet another example of this.
In this video, you can see a young lone wolf being chased down through tough mountainous terrain by a rival pack.
The footage was captured by Michelle Holihan for the Yellowstone Wolf Tracker, who revealed the details on what is going on in the video.
She said:
“Today our Winter Wolf Watch saw the Rescue Creek Pack run across the Lupine Creek Pack and an epic chase began.
Several Rescue Creek Pack wolves ran up on a grey pup from Lupine, the rest of her pack fled but she didn’t understand the danger until it was too late and she had to flee full speed down a mountain slope to escape.
We lost sight of the grey and don’t know what happened to her! Wolf packs are territorial but in the winter when all the wildlife is concentrated at low elevations they can have encounters like this one.”
Although we didn’t get to catch the end result of that epic chase, it’s still pretty crazy to actually watch a pursuit like this go down.
Ultimately, the lone wolf made it back to their own pack and out of harm’s way.
