Horrific news broke today that three children, and three adults were tragically killed by a lone gunman at The Covenant School, a private Presbyterian grade school in Nashville, Tennessee.

The innocent victims include three 9-year-old students, Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, and three employees of the school, Cynthia Peak, Katherine Koonce, and Mike Hill.

The shooter, a 28-year-old woman, was fatally shot by Metropolitan Nashville Police on the second floor of the school, and she was carrying two assault rifles and a handgun.

According to NBC News, police say that they first got calls about the shooter at 10:13 AM CT.

Police spokesperson Don Aaron told reporters:

“The police department response was swift. They heard shots coming from the second level. They immediately went to the gunfire.

When the officers got to the second level, they saw a shooter, a female, who was firing. The officers engaged her. She was fatally shot by responding police officers.

By 10:27 the shooter was deceased.”

The news is absolutely devastating, and it hurts to hear about yet another school shooting where innocent lives were lost over a senseless act.

With that being said, a number of country artists have responded to the tragic news via Twitter, showing their support, their prayers, and voicing their opinion over the incident:
