Robert Earl Keen is BACK.

After retiring from the road in September of last year, the Texas legend just announced a new album called Western Chill is coming on April 14th.

The project drop also includes a live performance video of the entire album and a 92-page, full-color graphic novel, which his wife, Kathleen, came up with the idea for, and centers on a character named Zane.

REK’s full band is also featured on the new songs, and he shared the news in a post on Instagram, saying it was a “labor of love” and he’s excited for fans to hear it:

“All the stars start popping out and the world is clean and still, Western Chill…It’s what I’ve been needing”

Thank you to all the talented people that brought this project to life. We hope the fans embrace the chill. It was a labor of love.

The album will be released under his new Scriptorium Rex label, and he also shared a teaser of the albums title track earlier this week:
