Drayton Farley And JR Carroll Cover The Hell Outta Jason Isbell’s “Goddamn Lonely Love”

Drayton Farley JR Carroll country music

Drayton Farley and JR Carroll absolutely brought it with this cover.

They tipped their cap to Jason Isbell with a stunning acoustic rendition of the Drive-By Truckers’ “Goddamn Lonely Love,” and I can’t get enough.

Released in 2004 as part of their The Dirty South album, when Jason was still a member of the band, the song is allegedly a love song written for Jason’s ex-wife Shonna Tucker.

Of course, the lyrics are completely heartbreaking and deal with the loneliness that comes with love and how sometimes, it just doesn’t work in the long run under different circumstances.

Straight from the green room ahead of a recent show, do yourself a favor and check it out:

“A @draytonfarleymusic x @jrvcarroll green room warm-up cover of ‘Goddamn Lonely Love’ by @jasonisbell.”

Drayton just released his first full-band studio album Twenty on High, and JR was in a fantastic OurVinyl sessions feature that included a few new songs, so you’ll definitely want to check both of those projects out while you’re here.

Keep an eye on both artists to have big years in 2023, and make sure you follow us on Instagram for more great acoustic videos like theirs.
