Ryan Reaves & Boko Imama Brought Us Arguably The Lamest Fight In NHL History

Ryan Reaves

Talk about down right embarrassing.

I’ll admit, considering I’ve lived in the southeast my whole life, my hockey knowledge is incredibly minimal.

However, it’s fun to go to games in hopes to catch a couple players drop the gloves on the ice and get into an all out fist fight. I’m never gonna be one of those “get it outta the game” kind of people, either. Let these guys settle their scores on the ice, say “nice hit, bud” after the tilt, and spend 5 minutes in the box… done deal.

Plus, whenever you see these highlights on TV, they’re typically pretty dang good, with a few solid punches connecting.

But this right here?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that this may go down as the worst fight in NHL history.

Yesterday, the Minnesota Wild squared off against the Arizona Coyotes, and things got a little dicey early in the first period when the Wild’s seasoned enforcer Ryan Reaves checked Coyotes defenseman Juuso Valimaki into the wall.

Now there’s one thing for certain about Reaves, and it’s that he’s one of the most aggressive players in the NHL, so this may come as no surprise.

However, Coyotes left winger Bokondji “Boko” Imama took offense to the shot from Reaves, and he called him to center ice, and he was ready to throw hands.

Sure enough, Reaves agreed, and the two squared up.

With Imama standing at 6-foot-1 221 pounds, and Reaves at 6-foot-2 225 pounds, this looked like it could’ve been setting up for the fight of the century…

Until it wasn’t.

Imama made the first move, barely even connecting with a few slaps on the wrist. They continued to stare each other down, until Imama may have made the worst attempt at a “punch” I’ve ever seen, missing Reaves by a few feet.

Smiling the whole time, Reaves just put Imama in a headlock, and that was all she wrote.

I mean c’mon, if you’re gonna start a fight, ya gotta be about it.

And to make matters worse, Imama had just gotten called up to the Coyotes, and this is all Coyotes fans will remember him by until he redeems himself.

Then again, anytime you’re squaring off with Reavo, there’s a chance you get knocked into next week… ref might’ve just saved his life.
