March Madness Kicked Off Early With Wild Brawl Between UT Martin & SIU-Edwardsville

IT’S MARCH MADNESS.

It’s the best time of the year for college basketball, and I absolutely cannot wait for the pandemonium that’s coming for this year’s NCAA Tournament.

However, it appears the madness got started early this year, and it all went down last night during the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

SIU-Edwardsville was squaring off against UT Martin, when a wild brawl broke out that ultimately led to three ejections.

It all started going south at the 4:13 mark in the first half, when SIU-Edwardsville forward DeeJuan Pruitt swung on UT Martin’s Rifen Miguel.

Miguel appeared to be a bit forceful while the two were going down the floor after SIU scored.

Once they got to midcourt, that’s when Pruitt finally had enough and threw the punch, and next thing you know both teams jumped into the scrum.

After it was all broken up, Miguel, Pruitt, and UT Martin’s Jalen Myers were all ejected for fighting, after Myers threw a punch himself.

UT Martin ultimately ended up defeating SIU-Edwardsville 81-75, with head coach Ryan Ridder said in the ESPN+ broadcast following the game:

“I think when you talk about an array of emotions– we talk about winning looks different every night. If you had told me the last two hours would look like this, I wouldn’t have believed you.

But at the end of the day, that’s a resilient group that found a way to come out shorthanded and get it done.”

March Madness baby, ya gotta love it:
