XFL Fans Throw Lemons On The Field After Security Confiscates Their Beer Cup Snake

XFL DC Defenders football

The XFL is BACK.

The indoor football league was entertaining as hell for the few weeks that it was in existence back in 2020, but unfortunately after COVID cut the XFL’s inaugural season short, the league had to file for bankruptcy.

But then Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came along and rescued the league, buying it out of bankruptcy with his business partners.

Today was opening day for the new XFL, and it’s a pretty entertaining league if you’re missing football already.

Exhibit A: This scene from tonight’s game between the DC Defenders and the Seattle Sea Dragons.

In the middle of the third quarter, security apparently confiscated a beer cup snake that DC fans in the endzone had been working on, continuing on a tradition for the DC Defenders from the XFL’s last season – one that even got a contribution from former XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck back in 2020.

Oh I’m sorry, I thought this was America. We can’t even make a giant snake out of empty beer cups at indoor football games now? Lame.

Well fans weren’t happy that their hard work was swiped by security. So they began pelting the field with…lemons.

Seems like a reasonable response to me.

And don’t worry too much about the beer snake: Fans quickly got back to work rebuilding their creation, scouring the surrounding sections for empty cups to help replace those that were so unjustly taken away by the fun police.

Football fans, man. Doesn’t matter whether it’s college, the NFL or the XFL. They’re gonna have fun in the stands one way or another.

At least until some jack-booted security comes along and tries to ruin it.

Come on, The Rock. Free the beer snake.
