Today for the Song of the Week, we have a tune from Ernest called “This Fire.”
Part of Ern’s new FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM): Two Dozen Roses deluxe record, it’s a damn good country song in every sense, that was written by Ernest along with Rocky Block, Julian Bunetta and John Ryan.
The production is so fantastic and really intriguing, as the verses and chorus almost sound like two different songs in a certain sense, as he sings about “this fire” he can’t put out, that’s seemingly set his world ablaze in the worst way possible.
It sounds so classic and old school, which could be said about all the songs on the deluxe addition to this project, honestly… he even managed to score a Dean Dillon feature, which is about as country as it gets.
While 24 songs is a lot to digest, and I keep finding different ones that I love on this tracklist, I think “This Fire” would make a great radio single when the time comes to send another one to country radio, and I highly suggest you diving into everything he put out on this new record.
It feels like Ernest has finally found his sound and direction with this project, and he’s easily one of the most exciting up and comers in Music City.
