Luke Combs is gearing up to release his forthcoming fourth studio album Gettin’ Old.

The album is slated to drop everywhere on March 24th, but this past week, Luke was in Arizona for Super Bowl 57 festivities, where he spoke to SiriusXM’s The Highway on pretty much everything going on in his life right now.

But most importantly, he opened up on fatherhood and life as a new dad, as he and wife Nicole welcomed their first son Tex in June of last year.

And he had a really sweet answer for what this new chapter has been like so far, saying that he’s discovered a whole new level of love with his son, adding that they’ve grown a special bond and it’s been “amazing”:

“A whole new level of love that is unlocked with a child. It’s different from the love you have for your wife. It’s a different kind of love. As a dad, you don’t have that instant bond with a child like the mother does. That is a chemical thing that happens.

It takes, getting through those first couple of months are difficult for dads, way more difficult for mom… you feel helpless, how can I help, how can I do anything. As your child starts to smile, laugh and recognize you when you come in the room, it’s like, it just all unveils itself.

And I think the thing that blew me away the most was how much of a serotonin dump there is from just looking at a picture of him on my phone or getting a picture from my wife or a little video of my wife when I am out here.

It just makes my whole day, it can make you feel instantly amazing just seeing them in their little chair, bouncing around or whatever they are doing. It’s amazing, something so simple. It almost feels like in a way that I am a kid again.”

I mean, I feel like Luke Combs would be the coolest dad of all-time, and it sounds like he’s taken to it very naturally already.

He also previously noted that the main themes of the new record are centered on the stage of life he’s in right now, notably being a husband and now a dad:

“This album is about the stage of life I’m in right now. One that I’m sure a lot of us are in, have been through, or will go through.

It’s about coming of age, loving where life is but missing how it used to be, continuing to fall for the one you love and loving them no matter what, living in the moment but still wondering how much time you have left, family, friends, being thankful, and leaving a legacy.”
