Now this will be a National Anthem performance to remember…

Forget the big halftime show, because Chris Stapleton is slated to sing the Star-Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl next month, live from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

It was just announced that he’ll do the honors at the big game, which airs on FOX on February 12th:

“Watch Chris Stapleton perform the National Anthem at Super Bowl LVII on FOX. 2.12.23 • #SBLVII.”

A great call to put one of country music’s best, if not the best, vocalists on a national stage with millions of viewers to sing the most important song of the evening, and I have no doubts he’ll absolutely crush it:

The pregame lineup also includes Babyface singing “America the Beautiful,” and Sheryl Lee Ralph singing “Life Every Voice and Sing”:

Rihanna is headlining this year’s halftime show, and kickoff for the game is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. local time), airing on FOX.

This weekend in the NFL will decide which two teams will go head to head at the Super Bowl, with the NFC Championship Game taking place this Sunday as the San Francisco 49ers head to Philadelphia to play Eagles, and the Cincinnati Bengals head to Kansas City to play the Chiefs.

And no matter who is ultimately crowned the champion of the NFL, Chris singing the National Anthem is a huge win for country music.
