Dennis Quaid Joins The Cast Of Taylor Sheridan’s Upcoming 1883 Spinoff: ‘1883: The Bass Reeves Story’

Looks like the cast of Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming Paramount+ show, Bass Reeves, just got that much better.

Bass Reeves is based off the true story of one of the first African American lawmen of the wild west, and many have said that the man even inspired “The Lone Ranger.”

He worked in the post-Reconstruction era following the Civil War as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, and is responsible for capturing more than 3,000 of the country’s most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.

Now, Sheridan plans to bring that story to the big screen, and David Oyelowo is set to star as Reeves.

With that being said, according to Deadline, another famed actor is joining the cast, and it’s no other than Dennis Quaid.

Quaid is set to play Sherrill Lynn, a Deputy U.S. Marshall.

Bass Reeves is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions, and Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon, and is currently being filmed in Texas.

Man, it’s truly been impressive to see the studs Sheridan has been able to bring in for his shows.

From bringing on the likes of Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Luke Grimes on Yellowstone, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliott, and cameos from Tom Hanks, Billy Bob Thornton, and more on 1883, Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren on 1923, and now David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid for Bass Reeves?

That’s some great company.
