Neuroscientist & Concussion Expert Weighs In On The Dangers Of These Slap Fighting Leagues: “He May Never Be The Same”

Slap fight

Last night, Dana White’s Power Slap Fighting League made its debut on TBS, and needless to say, it is WILD.

Things really began to stir this week when a video went viral of two Romanian “slap fighters” slapping the ever livin’ hell out of each other in a different slap fighting league, and one guy’s face is so swollen that he looks completely unrecognizable…

And the craziest part is, he WON.

Needless to say, there has been a lot of talk about the safety of something like this, considering people are getting knocked out left and right.

And one of those people is American neuroscientist and concussion expert Chris Nowinski.

Nowinski is a former pro wrestler with WWE, and a co-founder for the Concussion Legacy Foundation, tweeted out after watching the shocking video:

“I believe adults can choose to do dangerous jobs if they understand the risks and reasonable efforts are made to protect them.

But head hits with no defense is just sad. It reminds us that people who don’t take the risks often exploit those who do.”

And judging from the few clips I’ve seen from Dana White’s Slap Fighting League, it looks equally as dangerous as what we saw from the two Romanian slap fighters.

Even Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs couldn’t help but cringe while watching these guys and girls knock themselves out after taking multiple brutal blows to the face.

It’ll be interesting to see just how far this league will go.
