That was fast…

Zach Bryan’s fan-favorite “Oklahoma Smokeshow” has officially been certified Gold by the RIAA, which means it has moved over 500,000 units since it was released just about five months ago.

He released it as part of his Summertime Blues EP in July, which came on the heels of his monster 34-track debut studio album American Heartbreak.

I became obsessed with it immediately after he debuted it at Bonnaroo, and it’s a classic Romeo and Juliet-style tale about how Zach is a bad boy who will never settle down, or end up with a seemingly beautiful and perfect girl like he describes in the song.

He wants to be with her, but knows it can never be because neither he, nor anyone else in town, is good enough for the “small town smokeshow” that they’re all pining after.

He took to Twitter to share the news about the Gold certification, thanking fans for listening to the song and helping him earn it:

“THANK YOU GUYS FOR MAKING OKLAHOMA SMOKESHOW GOLD I LOVE YOU!!!”

Seeing as “Oklahoma Smokeshow” is barely half a year old, it’s pretty damn impressive to see it already earning a certification like this, though I wouldn’t venture to say it’s all that surprising.

This certainly isn’t the first Gold record he has under his belt, and needless to say, I have a feeling there will be plenty more in his future.

Zach has already teased a new album called Writers and Fighters coming next year, in addition to his Red Rocks live album, and the train just keeps on rolling at lighting speed.

And when it comes to that fiddle intro at the beginning of this song… you simply can’t beat it:
