Kansas Olive Garden Manager Fired After Ridiculous Memo About Calling In Sick: “If Your Dog Died, You Need To Bring Him In And Prove It To Us”

Olive Garden

The old southern saying, “you’ll attract more flies with honey than vinegar” was completely lost on one Olive Garden manager in Kansas.

Instead of being considerate of the holiday season combined with inflation of sickness that’s common this time of year, the manager decided to go on a tirade, practically insulting anyone who might need a day off… regardless of the reason.

The managers message went viral for its statements, including the threatening phrase:

“From now on, if you call off, you might as well go out and look for another job…”

And arguably the most outrageous statement:

“If your dog died, you need to bring him in and prove it to us…”

Not to mention that the memo informed employees they would have to disclose private information about family emergencies and health statuses in order to keep their jobs after calling out.

Read the full statement here.

Luckily this memo was so ridiculous that even Olive Garden wouldn’t tolerate the behavior, and they quickly fired the manager for the comments.

But apparently their popular slogan, “when you’re here, you’re family” doesn’t apply if you call out on your shift…
