Watch Patty Loveless & George Jones Grace The Stage Together On ‘The George Jones Show’

George Jones country music

From the archives.

Man, I wish we still lived in a time when there were good country music TV shows. The Johnny Cash Show, The Dolly Parton Show, The George Jones Show…things were different back then.

One of my favorite clips from this era was when George Jones took the stage during a 1998 episode with Patty Loveless.

It’s great seeing Patty Loveless return to the stage recently, and this video captures her in her prime.

The duo sang, “You Don’t Seem To Miss Me,” a massive hit for Loveless and Jones. The single was recorded in 1997 with Loveless taking the lead vocals, and Jones provided backups for the track.

The song won two the 1998 CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year after a 20-week run in 1997 on the country music charts topping at number 14 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. A chart run that artists often only dream of.

The classic heartbreak song doesn’t get old to me.

Loveless was the musical guest on the episode and had a great conversation with Jones about the meaning of some of her other hits before her duet with Jones.

When the time in the program comes for their performance, the crowd cheers as the intro starts. Loveless kicks off the first verse flawlessly and nails the vocals. Loveless keeps her focus on the vocals while George supports with the harmonies and has some fun entertaining members of the crowd.

I love seeing Jones let Loveless have the limelight to put down an excellent performance.

Two greats on the stage together never get old… this is no exception.

Just for fun, here is the full episode too.
