Kaitlin Butts & Cleto Cordero Cover The Hell Out Of “Whiskey Lullaby” For New ‘Sad Yeehaw Sessions’ EP

Flatland cavalry Kaitlin Butts

Back in April, Kaitlin Butts got back in the game like she never left, dropping her second studio album, What Else Can She Do, her first album since 2015.

The album was worth the wait, as she further proved why she’s one of the top vocalists and songwriters in the country music scene at the moment. We’re guaranteed to see it somewhere near the top of our 2022 Albums of the Year list.

With that being said, Butts is back at it again, as she dropped a five song EP, titled Sad Yeehaw Sessions, today.

The EP consists of two covers, including Miley Cyrus’s “Angels Like You,” and Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss’s “Whiskey Lullaby,” featuring Flatland Cavalry frontman (and her husband), Cleto Cordero.

On top of that, she also dropped a stripped down acoustic version of “blood,” a song written by her friends Emily Jane and Lyndsey Buchanon called “Hold You Down,” as well as a cover of The Wreckers’ “One More Girl.”

Now there’s one thing for certain about us country music fans, and it’s that we’re strangely attached to sad country songs, so this one here is right up our alley.

Not to mention, Butts’ country-fied cover of “Angels Like You” may be my favorite cover of 2022.
