Last year, famed actor Alec Baldwin was atop just about every headline, after he accidentally shot and killed cinemaphotographer Halyna Hutchins with a loaded prop gun while filming a western movie called Rust in New Mexico.
It’s been a wild ride since, as Baldwin has been investigated, several crew members filed lawsuits against him, and he even went on TV to say he “didn’t pull the trigger.”
The FBI determined that he DID in fact pull the trigger in some fashion, although he completely denies any wrongdoing relating to her tragic death. It’s also not entirely clear how a live round got into a prop gun.
However, in a wild turn of events, Hutchins’ husband, Matthew, decided to stop pursuing a lawsuit, as he and Baldwin settled out of court, and he’s now executive producing the movie and keeping the original cast from when his wife was killed.
“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of ‘Rust,’ including Alec Baldwin and ‘Rust’ Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed.
The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023. I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin).
All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”
With that being said, Baldwin may have posted the strangest Instagram post I’ve ever seen recently…
And it’s a picture of Halyna, literally the woman he accidentally shot and killed, with the caption:
