Two greats performing together is nearly always a recipe for a good video.
Glen Campbell and Leon Russell were two legends, and together performing the classic tune “Southern Nights” in 1983 will always be one of my favorites.
The tune was written by Allen Toussaint in 1975 and appeared on Campbell’s 1977 titled after the song. The song was inspired by southern skies filled with stars, cicadas, and humid summer air.
The song was a huge hit for Campbell, charting near the top both nationally and internationally the year the album dropped.
Russell accompanies Campbell on piano and makes the intricate melody look like its child’s play, as the two are grooving during the performance.
Throughout the song, the duo are making little comments toward each other that can’t help but make you smile.
The vibes are immaculate on this video, and your serotonin levels WILL be boosted after watching.
