It was a massive leap in Cooper’s young career, and it’s been one helluva ride watching him go from playing tiny venues in Texas, just trying to make a name for himself, to becoming a powerhouse in the Texas country rock scene, and now, a household name across the United States with a major label deal.
Pretty damn good for a young gun from Anderson County, Texas.
Cooper’s latest album is filled with a number of stellar hits, even featuring a number of songs from his Boy From Anderson County EP, like “Excuses,” “Way To Go,” “Good For You,” and “Boy From Anderson County,” while also boasting a few songs that have quickly become fan favorites, like “Breaking News,” “Are We On Fire,” “Storm’s Coming,” and more.
“Storm’s Coming” has quickly become one of my favorite songs on the album, as Cooper sings about how a tough night in his relationship with his significant other turns into making it up in all the right ways.
The chorus speaks for itself:
“Board up the door to the bedroom Raise some hell, put a wreckin’ ball dent in my pride Throw a wine bottle, let me send it full throttle Likе it’s caught in a cyclone Baby, let’s ride this out, gеt it all out Makin’ words that hurt, shake the whole damn house It’s darkest ‘fore the light, girl, ain’t you tired of runnin’? Hold on tight ’cause a storm’s comin'”
With that being said, Cooper released a stripped down, acoustic video of the song, featuring just acoustic guitar, and keys.
