It finds Carly on a beach at sunset, and the videography is absolutely stunning, with some gorgeous shots of her wading into the ocean and taking a swim.
She eventually comes back up for air, and climbs back onto the sand, reflecting on those last few verses:
“All I know is in the end, it wasn’t what he did, no It was what he didn’t do.”
Quite symbolic, and I’m sure purposefully so, for the fact that throughout the entire song, she mentions that we won’t learn all the nitty-gritty details of what exactly happened in her divorce from Michael Ray, but there were many things she wanted that she wasn’t getting out of the relationship.
Written by Carly, Ashley Gorley and Emily Shackelton, it’s easily one of my favorite’s from her incredible 2021 29: Written In Stone record, and I hope it continues to do well at country radio.
This one deserves to be a #1 hit for her, and I love the beauty and simplicity of the story she tells both in the video and the song.
The video is very well done and absolutely gorgeous to watch, simply for the her surroundings on the beach at sunset, so make sure you check it out:
