What a damn good country song.

Carly Pearce’s current single at country radio is “What He Didn’t Do,” from her 2021 fantastic studio album 29: Written In Stone, and it simply doesn’t get old.

Of course, the whole album is full of some great “divorce songs,” which Carly has previously noted was very intentional, and this is easily one of the best.

A co-write by Carly along with Ashley Gorley and Emily Shackelton, she mentions that, while we won’t learn all the nitty-gritty details of what exactly happened in her divorce from Michael Ray, it all boils down to the fact that, in the end, “it wasn’t what he did, no, it was what he didn’t do.”

I think that about says it all…

And she recently had hosting duties at this years ACM Honors special, where Miranda Lambert was honored with the Triple Crown Award and Hardy took home ACM Songwriter of the Year.

Not only did she do a great job hosting, she delivered an absolutely flawless performance of “What He Didn’t Do.”

As this one continues to climb the charts at country radio, I’m really hoping Carly can pull off back-to-back #1’s after her recent hit with Ashley McBryde, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl.”

It’s just beyond impressive how perfect her vocals sound live like this:
