Hardy’s Unreleased “.30-06” Is Giving Me Taking Back Sunday Vibes… & I Like It

Hardy country music

In the south, we appreciate a good redneck anthem, and Hardy loves to deliver.

Previous favorites like “Rednecker” and “Sold Out” feature all of the right redneck ingredients, and are often some of the hands-down favorites at live performances. To put it simply, Hardy just has “a little more kick in his drawl and a little more spit in his chaw” than many of today’s country artists.

And for the sake of being rednecker, Hardy likes to ensure his fans are never lacking for new huntin,’ fishin,’ or driving around music.

In recent festival shows like Tidal Wave Music Festival and Rock the South, he featured a new country-boy song with a southern rock-style music backdrop. The song named “.30-06” seems like the perfect release for hunting season with the storyline featuring a breakup that emerges after the guy’s caught “spending too much time in a pine tree.”

Check out some of the lyrics:

“I came home,
Buck in the back,
She’s on the porch,
With her bags packed,
She’s had enough,
She’s over me,
Spendin’ too much time in a pine tree…”

Live footage of the track feature Hardy on electric guitar, as well as a NASCAR name drop lyric:

“She took it out of my truck,
Drove off like Joe Nemechek,
Thought it would kill me,
But what’s one less .30-06 to a redneck…”

But I have to say, I’m getting some 2000s era punk rock vibes from this one, and I like it. A little bit of a Taking Back Sunday feel?

With Hardy’s “Sold Out” being released on the new Big Loud Rock label, and him saying that the new album will be more like that song, this unreleased jam “.30-06” seems to be right in Hardy’s rock wheelhouse.

With deer season right around the corner, “.30-06” seems like a perfect follow-up release to Hardy and Lainey Wilson’s single, “Wait In The Truck.”

Drop it, dude.
