With Yellowstone Season 5 bringing the series to a close next year, the cast and crew are heading back to Montana to film this coming spring.
In seasons past, production kicking off in May meant one thing… Cowboy Camp.
Taylor Sheridan has been very open about putting his actors through what he calls “Cowboy Camp,” a pre-production training session where the actors get back in the saddle and used to riding again. In an effort to make the show as authentic as possible, Sheridan does his best to turn these actors into cowboys before the camera starts rolling.
And for some, it’s pretty rough.
Jefferson White (Jimmy Hurdstrom) hilariously revealed that he is sporting scars between his ass cheeks, which he developed from spending a lot of time in the saddle learning how to ride a horse, but Cole Hauser’s (Rip Wheeler) version of event is equally as hilarious.
To soothe his chaffed (and bleeding) ass, Cole spotted Jeff dunking his cheeks in the river:
Here’s how that interaction went down:
“When we went to cowboy camp I saw the blood running through his jeans and I was like, ‘it’s blood.'”
And he said ‘yeah I have saddle sores.”
I was like, “oh man, do you want me to look at it?’
And he said, ‘NOOOOOOO.’
And then he went and sat in the river.”
Can you picture that?
Maybe you don’t want to, but Jimmy is on set, sitting in the river because he’s bleeding out of his ass, through his jeans, with saddle sores… just brutal.
Jimmy admitted that he had the least experience riding out of anybody in the cast, but that just sounds awful. Seems like he’s got the hang of it now… and the scars to prove it.

Jimmy’s Explains His Saddle Sores
Jefferson recently revealed that he has a permanent reminder of his days learning how to ride… right between his cheeks.
He hilariously explains his injury situation with ET’s Cassie DiLaura:
“Knock on wood I’ve been very lucky… I’ve got some permanent scars, a little bit TMI, on the inside of my butt cheeks… there’s a kind of Rorschach ink blot of scars that will probably never heal.
Other than that I’ve been very lucky. Very sore, very bruised, very beaten up but very lucky.”
Much like his character Jimmy, he has his own Yellowstone brand:
“It’s an evocative image… it is kind of a Y-shape, kind of a permanent, Y.”
