Charles Wesley Godwin + Brad Paisley’s “Mud On The Tires” = West Virginian Perfection

Charles Wesley Godwin country music

I thought Post Malone was the King of Brad Paisley covers, but we’ve got a new contender in town.

Charles Wesley Godwin just posted a cover of one of Brad Paisley’s most iconic songs, tipping his cap to one of the biggest country stars to come out of his home state of West Virginia.

“Mud On The Tires” is the title track and one of two Platinum singles on Brad’s 2003 Double Platinum album which also produced the hits “Celebrity,” “Little Moments” and the all-time sad song “Whiskey Lullaby,” a  Double Platinum hit. The album hit Number 1 on the Billboard Country Charts and peaked at Number 8 on the US Billboard 200.

Well, the rising star out of the Mountain State took his turn at one of my all-time favorite Karaoke songs and, unsurprisingly, absolutely crushed it.

The song takes on new character when slowed down and Charles voice is just absolutely fantastic, as I was fortunate enough to be witness to at the State Fair of West Virginia.

From “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive”, to “Crooked Teeth”, to “Three Wooden Crosses”, I absolutely love that Charles has been treating us to covers and quite honestly, I hope he never stops.
