Watch Jake Worthington Stun ‘The Voice’ Judges With A Keith Whitley Heartbreaker

Taking it back to 2014.

Keith Whitley’s first studio album says it best… he’s A Hard Act to Follow. But man, if Jake Worthington doesn’t give his heart-wrenching single, “Don’t Close Your Eyes” a hell of a try in this vocal audition.

Not the type of song you can nonchalantly perform, Worthington had to feel Whitley’s pain to give this one a fair shake, and he does it beautifully.

Not only does Jake stick to the smooth and slow-rhythmic vocals of Keith Whitley’s original, but he also adds every bit of the agony behind the notes.

If you are new to the musical stylings of Jake Worthington, you are in for a treat.

His sound is a traditional breath of fresh air to country music, and often includes solo renditions with just Jake and his guitar.

Not to mention that he’s featured a few heart-wrenchers himself, including “Hell Of A Highway” and “A Lot of Room To Talk,” a couple of guaranteed-to-make-you-sob breakup ballads.

He was also recently featured on Ronnie Dunn’s “Honky Tonk Town,” as well as a Hixtape Volume 2 track with Ronnie and Jake Owen.
